I have two rabbits and have been feeding them Mazuri pellets for years. My rabbits love them but in the past year I have received 4 bags of expired product. Not the exp date, the date has been fine but the product has smelled bad and one of my rabbits developed diarrhea. Mazuri refuses to own the problem so I do not want to give them one more cent. It’s true that hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, and rabbits were once all part of the order Rodentia, but rabbits were included in the taxonomic order Lagomorpha rather recently, so taxonomically, it isn’t right to call them rodents any longer. I get why you’d be bothered by us calling them that – you obviously don’t want your pet even to be compared to a rat. I will replace ‘rodent’ throughout this article and I’ll make sure that they aren’t called that in any other article we have published on the site until now.
